France Bans Plastic
Due to the rapid increase in plastic packaging in France, the government has taken the initiative to ban fruits and vegetables to be packaged in single-use plastic bags. A total of 30 vegetables and fruits which include, cucumbers, oranges, and lemons are not to be wrapped in plastic since it has led to a 37% increase in plastic usage around the country. According to several reports, billions of plastic bags are used per year, which are not being reused. From January 2022 President Emmanuel Macron has also installed water fountains to reduce the use of water bottles as well as plastic toys which are given out by restaurants. The shift towards sustainability is inspiring to see. Immediate action was taken by the government officials. Reusable packaging is a step in the right direction towards sustainable living and the future!
